This Public Information Centre (PIC) aims to identify and select the installation of traffic calming measures in response to concerns related to speeds and safety along Allanburg Road. We strive to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic while being sensitive to the needs of adjacent land uses and the environment. The goal is to understand community issues and expectations clearly, ensuring that all related concerns are addressed and documented. Additionally, we aim to identify the preferred technical solutions and achieve consensus on a solution for the affected area.

Staff took further assessment of the feedback and comments from the public and provided the following technical solutions to address the safety concern/s immediately:
Installation of Speed Monitoring Sign at Lynn Crescent
Installation of 3‑Way stop and pedestrian crossing at Windle Village Crescent

Share There are a few observations that I can see from the proposal page with the new stop signs at Windle Village Cres. Are the added stop signs there good, yes! The problem is that cars coming off the highway section of Davis Road are moving from an 80klms zone to slower speeds on Allanburg Road, the ideal situation would be to slow the drivers down immediately. The new stop signs further up the road at Windle give the drivers a large stretch of road to wind down or pick up their speeds depending on which way they are headed. New stop signs at Hodgkins Ave (south) would accomplish a slow down mentality.
On another note the stop sign at Hodgkins (south) is a temporary sign that gets blown over with the wind, a permanent sign here would be great. Pulling out from Hodgkins is dangerous because trees and shrubs along the roadway facing North are covering lines of visibility where cars are building up speed.

The City is working on other deterrents to discourage speeding off of Davis Road.
One of the considerations is to install a traffic Speed Monitoring Sign at Lynn Crescent.

5. Why were the proposed sidewalks (during PIC) being removed from the initial proposed plan?
The presence of roadside ditches poses challenges to install sidewalks without significant infrastructure upgrades. This would delay any traffic calming measures by several years
It is preferable to design the sidewalk installation as part of the holistic approach for future urbanization initiatives.
6. Why can’t the 3-Way Stop be installed at Lynn Crescent?
This approach is being deferred as it will also require the installation of sidewalk on the east side of Allanburg Road.
Installation of sidewalk poses additional challenges including major impact to residential driveways; without shifting road alignment and filling ditches.
