At the meeting on November 3, 2020 Thorold City Council adopted the Parks, Trails and Recreation Master Plan that will serve to guide future planning for indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and programs/activities, and the development and management of parks, trails, and other green space that is owned or managed by the City. It will also guide the municipality in continuing to ensure or increase access to services/facilities of other providers through partnerships or agreements, in instances where this is the most feasible option.

Hello Dave,
I'm a first-time visitor to this site, hoping to learn from your experience with the open invitation to comments and questions. I'm Chair of SouthWest Region for the Ontario Tennis Association, and very interested in opening up dialogue with all the various tennis stakeholders throughout Niagara, Hamilton and Halton. This appears to be a great format.
On a more specific basis, I'd be delighted to meet with you to discuss tennis in Thorold. The Recreation Report says "the tennis club did not respond to the invitation to participate in the Master Plan survey". To the best of my knowledge, there's been no tennis club in Thorold for a very long time, largely because of the lack of facilities to support one. The report points out that club initiatives are required in order to cultivate participation growth, and that strong junior programs are essential. This reality is easy to verify with abundant examples of community clubs providing outstanding services, as well as maintaining and improving their public facilities.
I'd be happy to meet with you in Thorold at your convenience. I'd appreciate the opportunity to see the South Confederation Park courts, and to chat with you about the challenges and opportunities of community tennis. My email address is rosemarygoodwin@mac.com. Phone is 905 932 5503. The website is in early stages of development, but can be seen at https://southwestontariotennis.ca.
