Thorold Museum & Cultural Centre

The Museum and Cultural Centre project involves the adaptive reuse and revitalization of the former Fire Station No. 1 located at 16 Towpath Street in downtown Thorold. The project aims to transform the historic building into a vibrant cultural destination that celebrates the City's rich history, heritage, and community identity while providing enhanced cultural, educational, and tourism opportunities for residents and visitors.

The project includes the restoration and rehabilitation of the historic fire station building, preservation of key heritage features, and development of modern museum and cultural spaces that are fully accessible and functional for contemporary use. The facility will serve as a permanent home for historical exhibits, artifacts, archival materials, and interpretive displays that showcase Thorold's unique connection to the Welland Canal, industrial development, local heritage, and community stories.

As part of the project, the City is undertaking interpretive planning and exhibit design to create engaging and interactive visitor experiences.
