McMillan Park Project

The McMillan Park Upgrades involves the redevelopment of McMillan Park through a partnership between the City of Thorold and the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN). The project was developed in response to the growing need for sports and recreation facilities that support school programming, community use, and future growth within the surrounding neighbourhood.

The proposed improvements include the construction of a new multi-purpose sports field intended to support football, soccer, physical education, and recreational programming for both Thorold Secondary School and the Thorold community. The project also includes spectator facilities, improved player facilities, and enhanced pedestrian connections. In addition to the sports field, the concept plan proposes improvements to the existing baseball diamond, including player and spectator safety enhancements and upgraded baseball facilities.

The concept plan also includes accessibility improvements, expanded pathway connections, a new playground and Splash Pad, additional lighting, landscaping improvements, and other park amenities intended to improve the overall functionality and appearance of McMillan Park. The McMillan Park Upgrades project is intended to support organized sports, school programming, and community use while improving accessibility, safety, and connectivity throughout the park. The project will help meet the needs of existing residents, future growth within the area, and the increasing demand for community facilities throughout the city.
