This project involves the replacement of watermain, sanitary sewer, reconstructing roadways and storm sewer systems, and upsizing of the current storm water system at various locations all with different works within the City of Thorold described below. Each element requiring replacement has been identified as a high-risk asset for failure due to age, material and condition. This project involves Engineering Services for the following roads.
Crompton Boulevard is located on the north section of Thorold on the south side of Richmond Street, located between Richmond Street and Bolton Avenue. The proposed work is the replacement of the watermain for the section of road between Richmond Street and Bolton Avenue. The watermain replacement is approximately 80m of 150 acrylic concrete pipe that was installed in the 1920’s and has reached the end of its service life.
Bolton Avenue is located on the north section of Thorold between Crompton Boulevard and Queen Street South on the south side of Richmond Street. The proposed work is the installation of a 205m new sanitary sewer pipe in the City of Thorold right of way, abandoning the vitrified clay pipe to the rear yard, along the highway to the south. As this pipe has reached the end of its service life and roadside service laterals are required.
Cunningham Street is located in the north section of Thorold between Garden Street and Richmond Street on the north side of Richmond Street, east of Pine Street. The Proposed work is the upsizing of the watermain for the section between Lyndon Street West and Richmond Street. The watermain currently is approximately 170m of 100mm cast iron pipe that was installed in the 1970’s, upgraded to a 150mm PVC pipe. The road is a currently 340m rural cross-section with ditching and swales, the City of Thorold wants to upgrade this road between Garden Street and Richmond Street to a proper urban cross section with storm sewer drainage curb and gutter.
McCormack Drive is located in the south section of Thorold between Deerfield Parkway and Clara Street, East of Allanburg Road. The current cross section is of a rural standard, the City of Thorold is requiring an urban cross section with storm sewer for the section of McCormack Drive between Morton Street and Mackan Street a distance of 250m. If possible, the storm sewer will connect to the existing system on Morton Street.
