About the Project

Thorold is growing. The City is planning for where new homes, jobs and people can be accommodated in the years ahead.

This study will help answer four key questions:

1. How much will Thorold grow?
2. What types of housing will we need?
3. Where and how can future growth be accommodated?
4. Do we have enough land to meet our future needs?

The study will look ahead to 2056 and will help inform the City's upcoming Official Plan Review project.

What Exactly Are We Studying?

Growth - How Thorold's population and number of jobs may change.

Housing - How many and what types of homes may be needed.

Intensification - Where more homes and development could be accommodated within Thorold’s existing urban areas.

Land Needs - Whether Thorold has enough land to accommodate future homes and jobs.

Planning for the Future - How these findings should guide future City planning project and the Official Plan Review itself.

We want to hear from you as the project moves forward. There will be opportunities to review the findings, ask questions and provide feedback about how Thorold should grow.
